PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Latest Brainbench Assessment Predicts Success for Any Given Job Role

Brainbench is pleased to announce the rollout of its Cognitive Ability Measure (CAM) assessment. Continuing Brainbench's tradition of innovation, the CAM test was developed as a measure of the abilities that influence the acquisition and application of knowledge in problem solving. As a general intelligence test, the CAM can be used to predict success for any job role.

A team of five psychologists developed the CAM test using Brainbench's rigorous 13-step ISO 9001:2000 certified test development process. Included in this process were two "beta" test events. The first beta test was delivered to 3,500 people. Upon collecting qualitative and quantitative data, the test items were cleaned. A second beta test was then performed. Over 17,500 people participated in re-testing the CAM assessment. Difficulty levels were calibrated and discrimination indexes were evaluated before its final release to the public.

The CAM administers 45 questions to each applicant from a pool of 334 possible items. The types of questions within the CAM assessment include:

  • Category Flexibility - The ability to generate or use different sets of rules for combining or grouping things in different ways
  • Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Flexibility of Closure - The ability to identify or detect a known pattern (a figure, object, word, or sound) that is hidden in other distracting material
  • Inductive Reasoning - The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Information Ordering - The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
  • Mathematical Reasoning - The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem
  • Number Facility - The ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly
  • Spatial Orientation - The ability to know your location in relation to the environment or to know where other objects are in relation to you
  • Speed of Closure - The ability to quickly make sense of, combine, and organize information into meaningful patterns
  • Visualization - The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged
  • Written Comprehension - The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing

The CAM test is currently available in Brainbench's extensive test library and serves as one of the most accurate general measures of intelligence on the market. Results of the test allow employers the opportunity to place candidates in roles that would properly fit their learning speed and cognitive skills.
